Glaucoma and/or cataracts have been reported in patients receiving nasal corticosteroids. Therefore, close monitoring is warranted in patients with a change in vision or with a history of increased intraocular pressure, glaucoma and/or cataracts. Systemic effects of nasal corticosteroids may occur, particularly when prescribed at high doses for prolonged periods. Growth retardation has been reported in children receiving intranasal steroids. Following multiple doses intranasal administration of NASACORT, systemic exposures observed in paediatric patients 6 to 12 years of age were similar to those observed in adult patients. Sudden discontinuation of corticosteroids after prolonged use may result in withdrawal symptoms like joint pain, muscle pain, shaking, weight loss, anxiety, nasal drip and bleeding from the nose.
