Even in the Nineties, a fair number of Moggies are still going, "strong" and, particularly the split-screen ones, are very definitely collectors' items.

You could fill a whole book with witty musings from Granny W, and there were plenty in this book, but I shall just limit myself to "be shure to wear loose clowthing also that no vysitors exspected", oh and "Nevertheless I think that on the whole I would prefer you to move your hands ". Whilst I don't remember ever actually reading this book it was wonderful to get reacquainted with Granny W. Starting from the title which is a play on “Equal Rights”, to the characters to society's expectations, Sir Terry Pratchett has captured the real-world issues of gender discrimination in his magical world of Discworld. He arrives at a remote village where the wife of the local smith, who is an eighth son, is about to give birth to their eighth child.Page 111 "Bel-Shamharoth, C'hulagen, the Insider -- the hideous old dark gods of the Necrotelicomnicom, [. The other word for yellow to which Pratchett is referring may possibly be 'gilvus', or 'croceus', or 'luteus'. I found a whole slew of these books 2nd hand and now have about 25, but Mort and Sorcery were not among them. Granny Weatherwax is one of my favorite characters of Pratchett's, and as an author, it does me good to see how she began as a character.

Kirby's artwork "coincidentally" draws Esk with the broom handle where a penis would be which is a traditional interpretation of the basis of the "witches flying around on broomsticks" myth. The wizard Drum Billet knows that he will soon die and travels to a place where an eighth son of an eighth son is about to be born. This is one of my favourite Terry Pratchet stories and I was glad that it was so well read by the reader. Unfortunately the faculty’s ideas on equal rights are pretty ancient too, so Esk must prove her magical mettle in Terry Pratchett’s third Discworld Book, Equal Rites.
