After testing the Metcon 5, the Reebok Nano X launched so I had been wearing that and these felt quite different. The low heel height at the back did give some heel slippage to begin with but now no longer bothers me as the shoe has softened up and moulded to my foot better.

This outsole wraps up the foot on the medial and lateral sides to protect the foot and make the shoe last longer on rope climbs, and gives added support for lateral movements. The hyperlift insert can be removed for general training activities and inserted to provide stability for squats and lifting. The removable Hyperlift insert accommodates for all gym related activities, and is structured to be firmer at the heel for added balance, whilst remaining more cushioned at the forefoot. Tracking number did not work, but parcel was shipped next day and arrived from Israel within a few weeks in perfect condition. Both the heel cup and tongue materials were thick and maintained their structure meaning the shoe still looks brand new out of the box after over a month of wearing.

On the heel, a strong TPU compound has been used to reinforce the Metcon's suitability for high-intensity workouts. The lightweight yet durable textured print protects your feet during any workout whilst perforations in the fabric increase airflow, creating a better, healthier environment for your feet to thrive in. I’m not used to poor quality from Nike and have always loved Metcons but I’m impressed with how great Rogue has been to help me get a new pair of shoes. To begin with the shoe does feel stiff both in the sole and around the heel cup, so I’d recommend wearing them around the home or for a short walk outdoors before a long workout, and risking any rubbing or hotspots.

OUR VERDICT The Nike Metcon 6 is a superb training shoe, designed for athletes working out in the gym, fitness classes, CrossFit, or functional fitness facilities. We reserve the right to change the gifts items without a previous communication when they are not available for others of the same or superior value. To draw a comparison I just prefer the feel on the foot from the higher heel cup and tongue of the Nano X, and prefer Reebok’s classic design and more subtle sole rope wrap. My favorite thing about this type of training in the Metcon 6 was the large solid base the shoe gives you, meaning you can crack on with your workout and not give your feet a second thought. A low, flat and wide heel now features a removable Hyperlift insert that adds offset to help improve stability for squats, wall balls and thrusters.

When lifting weights a training shoe like this feels a world away from a running shoe, and is much more comfortable and safer on the joints.
