About this deal

now if only someone could inject a bit of the "Steve & Steve" -Englehart & Gerber- madness of yore, which was my fave Defenders period before other writers killed it totally dead (and don't even START about D.A.K.'s Dollar Bill), it would be perfect - but you're close! The Blue Marvel's tragedy with the Neutral Zone is explored in Mighty Avengers (Vol. 2) #8– 9 and continues to Captain America and the Mighty Avengers #5– 7. Given that this is the second time you two are working together in recent memory, what can you say about the highlights of your collaboration? The Beyonder wears the armor that he creates in Avengers #260. There is a mark on his chest similar to the unidentified one in Avengers #261, but here, it is a clearly-defined omega symbol (Ω).

Mark Turetsky: Hey Karen, for our final Defenders Beyond review, I wanted us to meet God. I bought these mushrooms from this guy who guaranteed we would, but it turns out they’re just cans of cream of mushroom soup. So happy Thanksgiving, I guess? The “Old Loki” we see holding the mirror is the embodiment we really last saw in Journey Into Mystery #645. Both old in age and in conception of the character. He’s the force that rejects change while also requiring it. The Red Harpy: the High Priestess, reversed. Secrets and disharmony. Withdrawal and silence. Information withheld. Interspecies Romance: Taaia, an extraterrestrial from the Sixth Cosmos and the mother of Galactus, develops a thing for Doctor Strange, to Harpy's disgust. The Third Cosmos learning about the states of "being" versus "non-being" is a reference to the Lifebringer One and the Anti-All from Defenders (Vol. 6) #5. We meet up with him early and get a closer look at the Beyonders and the Beyond than ever before! What's their connection to the mysterious Omega Council and their Concordance Engines from previous Defenders runs? Why does a remnant of the Second Cosmos still exist today? What's the mysterious furnace that powers the engines of Beyond, and where does it lead? Why is the Beyonder so different from the Beyonders? Most importantly of all, who remembers the Secret Wars action figures of the '80s? (Me and Javier do.) The Silver Surfer: Judgment, reversed. Self-doubt. Fear of judgment. For wrongs done. A message unheeded. Kadesh, the Blue Marvel's underwater science fortress, is from Adam: Legend of the Blue Marvel #4. The Blue Marvel lives there, as per Mighty Avengers (Vol. 2) #2. The Portal Room and the Neutral Zone portal are mentioned in Fear Itself: The Home Front #4, but the portal is first shown in Captain America and the Mighty Avengers #5.

Taaia's son is a baby Galan of Taa, as seen in Defenders (Vol. 6) #2. She does not know he will become Galactus. The Celestials observed from within the new cosmos...while we continued maintanence from here. Nothing dies, while we remain--here in the remnants of the Second Cosmos, outside all that is known...and beyond it. — The Beyonder Appearing in "Yesod: The Second Cosmos" In a follow-up issue, that Loki encounters Taaia in Taa and opens a "NEXT" portal in Thor (Vol. 6) #24, which leads to this issue. The story about the Eternity Mask and the Masked Raider is from Defenders (Vol. 6). Doctor Strange obtains the Eternity Mask in issue #5. Bilingual Bonus: When Carlos Zota casts the spell, he says, "Ventis Di Tempore... Audi Vocem Meam..." If you know Latin (or Google Translate), it reads, "Winds of time...hear my voice..." So you know he's casting a time travel spell before the Masked Raider tells us. The Blue Marvel's wife, Candace, dies in Adam: Legend of the Blue Marvel #5. As he recounts in Ultimates (Vol. 3) #4, he partially blames the Avengers for not listening to his plan to stop the Anti-Man.

The Beyonders' physical bodies are not their true forms. This is clearly demonstrated in Secret Wars II #2, and explained in New Avengers (Vol. 3) #30 and New Avengers (Vol. 3) #32. As Hank Pym states in #30, they cannot be fully comprehended in a human fashion. The Blue Marvel's old outfit and his fight with the Anti-Man is from Adam: Legend of the Blue Marvel, specifically Adam: Legend of the Blue Marvel #1 and issue #5. A Beyonder confirming that they are behind the death of the Multiverse (Seventh Cosmos) as an "experiment" from New Avengers (Vol. 3) #32

Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of March 9, 2022

Phoenix's outfit is notably white, which may suggest Taaia is a White Phoenix like Jean Grey in New X-Men #154 or Hope Summers in Avengers vs. X-Men #12. LOLtron, the management here at Bleeding Cool has paired me with you in hopes of "improving the overall tone and quality of my work," so though I know I will regret it, I am contractually obligated to ask: what did you think of the preview of Defenders: Beyond #5? And this time, please… try not to malfunction and attempt to take over the world. In Thanos #8– 10, it is revealed that Kosmos turned herself into a mortal called the Maker. The Maker is later killed by the Annihilation Wave (see Annihilation) and the Fallen One finds her corpse in Annihilation: Silver Surfer #3, meaning the Beyonder within her is now free.

Al, Adam Brashear has been a recurring figure for you through many different books you’ve written—why the affection for the Blue Marvel? Tigra encounters the Beyonder in Secret Wars II. The Beyonder threatens to destroy the Multiverse in Secret Wars II #8– 9 (though this issue just says "universe"). Anti-Magic: By saying the "cantrips of the Onyx King," nobody can do magic (or use powers not contained in their own bodies) for the next 30 seconds. As explained in New Avengers (Vol. 3) #33 and Secret Wars #4– 5, the Beyonders are the ones responsible for the incursions that ended the Seventh Cosmos. They destroyed the entire Multiverse as part of a grand experiment. Don’t miss the latest extraordinary DEFENDERS epic from Al Ewing and Javier Rodríguez when DEFENDERS: BEYOND hits stands on June 16. The Blue Marvel has travelled to the Outside through the Neutral Zone before in Ultimates (Vol. 3) #3– 5, but he and the Ultimates had to build a ship that could withstand the Neutral Zone. Here, Loki uses his magic to protect them. THE FINAL TRIAL OF LOKI! The final trial of Loki, America Chavez and the rest of the Defenders sees them entering…the one and only House of Ideas!
