If the Pro model is a bit rich for your blood, there’s still plenty to love about the red ‘Special Edition’ of the original SPD-SX, which features a hefty 16GB of storage space and is currently a decent chunk cheaper than the new pro model. Right-out-the-box, SamplePad 4 doesn’t disappoint. Preloaded with a built-in library of the 25 most commonly requested percussion and electronic drum sounds, mapped across 10 ready-to-play kits, SamplePad 4 offers immediate creative potential from the get-go! Customise your Sound In 3 Easy Steps Samples may be layered by assigning any two sounds to one of the four pads. The layers may have different trigger thresholds, for example there's potential for fat- sounding samples depending on velocity. Hands On

Overall though, this is one of the best all-rounder pads out there, with impressive functionality and features. Drums and Drummers come from a wide spectrum of people, but anyone who uses an electric kit has done so under a very simple premise- Mic-ing acoustic drums is not fun. But when it comes down to how you actually want to record your drums, a few options open up. This guide will help you navigate them. Play around with sensitivity settings, and if you’re playing this live then do it with your live performance in mind. i.e. you might play pretty quietly when practicing and then smash the pad when playing live. This particular pad can lose a lot of dynamics if you set the sensitivity too high, so keep that in mind. Though it can be a trade-off between sensitivity and potential cross-talk (though this might only be the case in certain older models, I’m not sure about that), so test that a bit before performing! Multipad’ is a catch-all term for pads that include multiple functions and quite literally: multiple pads. Each multipad will have different qualities and functions; for example the Alesis Strike MultiPad has a large library as well as 32GB of space for uploading your own samples. Please note that this extended warranty is currently only available on products sold within the UK, EU or EEA, and is subject to the terms and conditions as detailed on the extended warranty certificate provided. In practice, one key press is all it takes to swap between the user kits and, we don't have to wait for samples to load upon each change. Is cross-talk really an issue with this device? The answer is that it depends. You may have to avoid using the particular problematic pads if you’re looking for a lot of sensitivity in your playing. Otherwise, it might be fine. I’ve used this for live gigging. To be honest, it wasn’t too bad. At times, I didn’t think the sensitivity was amazing but it’s a nice cheap option to use alongside a drum set or for a producer’s live performance.

While this may not be on the level of the Roland V-Drum module, having two velocity layers per pad allows you to play more dynamically with your sounds. If you’re confused by what this means, allow me to explain. The Samplepad is Alesis' latest offering in affordable electronic percussion instruments. The Samplepad is a 4-pad trigger pad which contains 25 built-in sounds. It even features the ability to output MIDI data so you can trigger samples on a sampler, computer, or any other MIDI compatible module. The SamplePad 4 is extremely easy to use. Load your choice of samples onto an SD card in the correctWhen a sound is selected on your SD card, you can load it into a specific pad and save a new user kit. It’s a relatively easy process. Two velocity layers per pad

Having said that, I hooked it up to an iPad (using an Apple Camera Connection Kit) running the Akai iMPC app and it worked great. In this case, you would just use the iMPC for sounds as it is pretty much unlimited space wise, and it loads instantly, overcoming any short comings of the Samplepad 4 itself. Looking to add some custom sounds to your performance? SamplePad 4 is the solution you have been looking for. Load up a standard SD card with your select samples, insert your SD card into SamplePad 4 and assign your samples to the pads - it’s that easy! Features For customers in outlying areas of the country, the price of the Extended Warranty may be marginally higher, due to the potential for higher collection and redelivery transport costs.

The Alesis SamplePad Pro is an instrument with big features at an extremely reasonable price. It can serve as a good entry into electronic drum pads, but with some issues. Switching between kits when using only the internal sounds is very fast, so that’s something else to keep in mind. If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offered On the Samplepad Pro you can load up to 48meg of samples at any one time, but the Samplepad 4 can take 10meg at once, and the internal sound library is smaller too (just 25 percussion samples with some edrums thrown in for good measure), though obviously the main use for the Samplepad 4 will be playing user samples.

Collection and delivery costs are included for the first 2 years in the event of an item becoming faulty They're not just great for drummers either. Perhaps you’re a live DJ with a nice loop going. Why not spice it up by stepping away from the booth and playing a percussion break? You can then add effects and layers to colour it however you want, or loop it to keep the break going while you mix something else. What is a multipad? This sample pad contains many different in-built drum kits and sounds. These range from acoustic sounds, electronic hits, and world music to musical synth pads. The SPD::One Wav is perhaps the most useful - albeit slightly more costly - of the group. It has 4GB internal storage and 12 assignable slots, meaning you can use this as a fully functioning, fully customisable sample pad. Overall, these are nifty little pieces of gear, despite the relatively high outlay. You have two different types of outputs on every drum module we make- your main audio outputs and your USB output. These have very different functions and are going to determine how you proceed. Your USB output is only going to send the raw midi messages from your hits to your computer. That means information like what drum you hit, how hard you hit it, and how long you let the note ring. It does not include the sound.
