About this deal

there were a total of 6 AC mentions that too totally unrelated! and dont argue with me , i counted okay!

I have to say Agatha Christi- esque vibes of the mystery: claustrophobic whodunnit with And Then There Were None and Clue themes made me love the story more. Also, the pacing of this was weird just because it’s a three-book series with one or two main mysteries. So you get answers at some points in this book, but not a lot of them and not really any that matter. Stevie Bell has always been a bit different than her peers, much to her parents' chagrin. Much of her childhood and teenage years have been spent feeding her obsession with true crime and mysteries. Her parents wanted her to do the things "normal" teenagers do—hang out with friends, participate in extracurricular activities, maybe even date. But what Stevie wants more than anything is to solve crimes, to one day be as revered as some of the legendary detectives she loves reading about. And the characters , plot, mystery isn't the most depressing thing about the book it's this thing:- Soon enough, it's David to the rescue, as he has hatched a fairly stellar plan. He invites Stevie, Nate, Janelle and Vi to come to London to do a study-abroad for a week. Each of them devises a schedule and specific course of inquiry for their time there.I heard about her from one of the top librarians at the public library, this girl from Avenue A who read Greek and slipped into one of the rare books rooms three times. They said she was trouble, but good trouble." the things that made this series good were not here, and the things that made this series bad — our protagonist stevie's never-progressing identical character arc, side character david as a presence, david as a romantic lead, stevie in general, the attempts at emotion — were here in spades! can we talk about how smart stevie is for a second?!? shes literally a genius. i dont understand how she figures out the things she does, but she does, and it blows my mind everytime. i loved following her train of thought, and watching her connect the dots of the mysteries was so fun!! i also thought her anxiety was so well written. her mental illness was subtly incorporated into every decision she made, and it was so fascinating to read about. TRULY DEVIOUS is a really good/and exciting murder mystery that tweens can handle. I think ages 10-12 are perfect, at least not 14-- it is something tweens can handle. The book goes from past to present and its about Stevie who wants to solve a murder. Of course you would expect lots of gruesome, bloody violence but there's not much of it. Only some mild blood- - but nothing tweens can handle, and the violence is not explicit its pretty mild. Most of the ''violence'' is talking about murder, than showing/describing any dead body-- except in one scene where they find a dead body (not gruesome nor gory; limited injuries) Besides that, there is some language still not offensive to one and other just to show expression. Still, its not really a problem as tweens will be captivated by the amazing mystery and adventure the book has, so they wont focus much on the language (language is mostly infrequent). There's some mild romance of teens, but nothing to racy-- or raunchy-- tweens can handle as this is the age where they start to like each other/feel attracted and that's all the book has. Mild drinking is also frequent, but nothing to excess-- and no one gets heavily drunk/or dangerous, but do expect very mild drinking at parties which is completely normal.

This book should be called: The Vanishing Cash, because I didn’t learn my lesson the first time around, and yet again spent real money on this trash.** I am actually happy I put off reading Truly Devious for almost a year after it was released, because honestly, I don't think I could have waited for the sequel. There's still some three or more murder mysteries yet to get solved and one very important mystery that had started it all still looming large. Y'know guys, I think TRULY DEVIOUS by Maureen Johnson might deserve the overhyped book of the century award. It's the humour parts here and there that keeps me going on, especially when Nate is there. Damn, he's my nerd😘
