Description

Paddy’s Irish whiskey was once offered as a 10-year age statement whiskey, which guarantees that any barrel used in the barrel is aged for a minimum of that long. However, it no longer has an age statement on the label.

Paddy, which claims to be the best-selling whiskey in Ireland, has only recently received wider distribution to the rest of the world in an effort to compete with giants Jameson and Powers, also made at the Midleton distillery. Formerly a Pernod-Ricard brand, Paddy was sold to Sazerac (makers of Buffalo Trace Bourbon and Pappy) in 2016. The whiskey itself, a “high-malt” blend of all three styles of Irish whiskey (malt whiskey, single pot still, and column grain whiskey) is triple-distilled, aged between 4 and 7 years, and bottled at 40% ABV.

Awards for Paddy Irish Whiskey

When it comes to compiling a list of the best Irish whiskey brands, there is no shortage of choices to consider. From Jameson to Powers or Redbreast to Paddy’s, there are many great whiskeys, which are all distilled right here in Ireland, which is one of the reasons to visit Ireland in 2022. This is the go-to drink of choice for the majority of whiskey drinkers as, not only is it a well-known brand, but it offers an extremely smooth taste with vanilla and nutty flavours. The following indicators should be taken as only a guide and not a set of hard and fast rules. Some "premium" whiskeys really are quite terrible, while some mass market products are good enough to pour into a decanter and serve to the Duke of Edinburgh. A+: A masterpiece and one of the ten best whiskeys of its type. Above five stars.

Teeling Distillery opened in 2015 and became the first new distillery in the capital in over 125 years. Writers’ Tears is a blend of single pot still and single malt whiskeys. It is one of the newer whiskies on our list, and it pays tribute to Ireland’s long history of brilliant and miserable writers – hence the name. Honestly, I’d no idea what to expect out of the flavor. I don’t drink a lot, but I generally prefer the good stuff when I do. At least good as in within my price range. I’ve recently been on a Blanton’s binge, so I’m not expecting this to be on that par, but I expect it should be food enough…. if I can ever find a reason to open it.

The term ‘triple distillation’ has become synonymous with Irish whiskey production. And while most whiskey exported from the island is triple distilled, it’s important to note that Irish whiskey brands are not required to triple distill their products to be considered an Irish whiskey. Some of the best Irish whiskey brands are widely regarded as being part of the top echelon of the world’s greatest whiskeys.

Paddy is a brand of blended Irish whiskey produced by the Irish Distillers subsidiary of Pernod Ricard. As of 2016, Paddy is the fourth largest-selling Irish whiskey in the World. [1] History [ edit ]
