The specifications for the Sony H400’s EVF are the same, but when I compared them, the COOLPIX P530’s EVF was significantly bigger and also a little brighter. Ordinarily, this kind of additional stabilisation is reserved for movie shooting and it’s a little odd to provide two levels of stabilisation for stills shooting, if there’s a more effective option, why not just include that and forget about the less effective one? Engage with our used photography equipment partner MPB in a forum dedicated to giving members the opportunity to feedback their experiences or seek advice. Its high megapixel count, powerful optical zoom, and advanced image stabilization make it suitable for capturing a wide range of subjects with precision and clarity.

Dry solder points seems odd given that Nikon must have had some feed back on the issue and for them to continue producing the model and not sort the issue would be pretty slack , especially the damage to reputation. Instead, Nikon’s limited it only to JPEG, which reduces the flexibility users have when post-processing images.Like most EVF’s, and the PowerShot SX50 HS and Lumix FZ70 / FZ72 are no exception, the COOLPIX P520’s provides a bright and stable image when stationery, but when panning and with moving subjects things have a tendency to get a little jittery with visible pixelation and noticeable lag. Switch it on and it’s ready to shoot in a couple of seconds – not lightning fast, but not snail-like either. There are two other reduced resolution modes running at 60fps and 120fps at 1920×1080 and 640×480 respectively. By contrast the drive mode button on the Canon SX520 HS can’t be re-assigned even though, given the SX520’s lamentable 1.

Nikon Coolpix P520 Overview - Digital Photography Review

The dominant part of the P520 is the 42x zoom lens, which goes from an ultra-wide 24mm to a frankly incredible 1000mm in 35mm terms. The pre-shooting cache starts recording when you half-press the shutter release for half a second or more and captures a total of up to 20 frames included 5 pre cached frames at around 15fps. This license is not a sale of the Manual and you do not become the owner of the Manual through your purchase of any product, download and/or use.Unlike the PowerShot SX50 HS and Lumix FZ70 / FZ72 the COOLPIX P520 has no quick menu button so for things like image quality and size, ISO sensitivity setting, white balance, continuous shooting, exposure bracketing, and AF mode, among others, a trip to the Shooting menu is required. Just to note that the Canon PowerShot SX50’s 50x zoom has the same 24mm equivalent wide angle as the COOLPIX P520 but, like the FZ70 / FZ72, has a 1200mm equivalent maximum telephoto focal length. Another thing you’ll notice from that comparison is that, as well as outdoing the COOLPIX P520 at the telephoto end of the range, the Lumix FZ70 / FZ72 also has a wider wide angle at 20mm equivalent compared with 24mm on the COOLPIX P520.
